What happens when electricity becomes part of a Nei Gong practice?

For many people, the idea of using an electrical device during Qi Gong or Nei Gong training sounds strange—or even dangerous. In this video, I explain the purpose of Dian Qi Gong, the first advanced program in our Nei Gong system, and why electricity is used as a training tool.

The word Dian refers to electricity, Qi to energy, and Gong to practice. Dian Qi Gong is therefore an advanced energy practice involving controlled electrical stimulation combined with specific standing postures and internal training.

In our system, there are nine basic programs and six advanced programs. Dian Qi Gong is the first of the six advanced programs and belongs to the teachings of Shifu Luo, one of the Chinese teachers of my teacher.

What Is Dian Qi Gong?

Dian Qi Gong is not simply about connecting the body to an electrical machine.

The electrical stimulation is one component of a structured practice that also involves standing postures and internal energy cultivation.

The program is practiced for one year, after which the machine is no longer used for personal training and the practitioner moves on to the next advanced program.

One of the main purposes described in this video is to accelerate the accumulation of Jing in the Lower Dantian and to develop greater control and awareness of the nervous system.

Why Use Electricity in Nei Gong?

The use of electricity in this practice is based on observations regarding the relationship between electricity and certain manifestations of Qi.

The goal is not simply to experience electrical stimulation. Through progressive training, practitioners learn to remain relaxed and maintain control of the body under increasingly strong stimulation.

This ability to relax and maintain awareness under stimulation is considered an important part of the training.

The practice also focuses on opening the channels between the lungs and the Lower Dantian, supporting the internal energy work that follows in the advanced Nei Gong programs.

Dian Qi Gong and Jing Cultivation

An important distinction discussed in the video is between Qi and Jing.

Although the word Qi is often used very broadly when talking about energy practices, within this system these terms refer to different qualities or states of vital energy.

One of the main reasons I found Dian Qi Gong valuable was the acceleration of the process of accumulating Jing in the Lower Dantian.

This creates a foundation for the subsequent stages of advanced Nei Gong training.

The advanced programs require progressively greater involvement from the practitioner, which is why the basic programs are used to establish the necessary foundation first.

Does Dian Qi Gong Have Health Benefits?

The video also discusses the perceived effects of this practice on health and recovery.

From my personal experience, I noticed changes in recovery and general physical resilience during the years of practice. The practice is also described as having an effect on relaxation, digestion, and the ability to remain calm under strong physical stimulation.

These are personal and system-specific experiences, rather than medical claims or a substitute for medical treatment.

The system also includes a healing-training component derived from Shifu Luo's teachings, where electrical stimulation is used as part of a method for working with other people.

Is Dian Qi Gong Dangerous?

This is an important question.

Electricity should never be experimented with casually.

Dian Qi Gong is taught progressively and according to specific safety instructions. The practitioner does not simply connect themselves to high voltage and begin training.

The training develops gradually under guidance.

For this reason, this practice should not be attempted independently at home based on information from a video.

The purpose of this video is to explain the role of electricity within this particular Nei Gong system, not to provide instructions for reproducing the practice independently.

Is Nei Gong About Using Machines?

No.

This is perhaps one of the most important points of the video.

Nei Qi Gong is not about electricity.

Dian Qi Gong is only the first of six advanced programs. After completing this stage, the machine is put away and the practitioner continues with five additional advanced programs that develop the internal work further.

Ultimately, the practitioner must develop the ability to produce and control the relevant internal energetic processes through their own body.

The machine is therefore a training tool, not the essence of Nei Gong.

Why the Foundation Matters

The advanced programs are built on the foundation established through the nine basic programs.

Without sufficient preparation, advanced practices could potentially create problems.

This is why the progression of the system is structured.

The purpose is not to rush toward extraordinary experiences but to gradually transform the body and develop the practitioner's capacity for increasingly advanced internal work.

The Bigger Picture of Nei Gong

Dian Qi Gong can look unusual when viewed from the outside.

But within the larger context of Nei Gong and Internal Alchemy, it is only one stage in a much longer process of internal cultivation.

The ultimate purpose is not the machine, the electricity, or even the ability to tolerate strong stimulation.

The deeper goal is the transformation of the practitioner and the development of internal energy through structured, consistent practice.

Once the electrical component is no longer necessary, the practitioner continues without it.

That is when the deeper aspects of the Nei Gong journey can continue to unfold.

Final Thoughts

Dian Qi Gong is one of the most unusual practices within our system, and understandably it can create many questions when people first hear about it.

But understanding its role requires looking beyond the electrical device.

It is one component of a structured progression designed to develop the body, nervous system, internal energy, and eventually the practitioner's ability to work without external stimulation.

Most importantly, electricity should never be experimented with casually.

If you are interested in Qi Gong, Nei Gong, Internal Alchemy, Jing cultivation, Lower Dantian training, and advanced energy practices, I hope this video gives you a clearer understanding of where Dian Qi Gong fits within the larger system.

If you have constructive questions about the practice, feel free to leave them in the comments.
