Fa Qi in Nei Gong: Why It’s Not the Real Goal of Practice

Recently, I shared some videos of Fa Qi—energy emission—recorded during a trip to China.
To be honest, every time I do Fa Qi, I feel a bit… uncomfortable. Almost silly.
Not because it’s fake—on the contrary, it’s very real. But because, compared to what this practice truly offers, it feels like something superficial.
And I want to explain why.
The Fascination with Fa Qi
In the beginning, Fa Qi is fascinating.
When you first see it—or experience it—it gives you something very important: confirmation.
Confirmation that:
This is not just theory
Energy is not just an idea
These systems actually work
I remember the first time I experienced it. The reaction is always the same:“How is this even possible?”
How can a human being generate such intensity? How can something invisible create such a clear effect on another person?
So yes, Fa Qi has value. It can open the door.
But Then Something Changes
After years of practice, your perspective shifts.
You start to realize that Fa Qi is not the destination—it’s just a small expression of something much bigger.
If I had to make an analogy, it’s like a millionaire showing off money without actually using it for anything meaningful.
It looks impressive. But it’s not the real value.
Compared to what I experience daily through practice—the internal changes, the clarity, the stability—Fa Qi feels like a very small part of the whole.
The Real Purpose of Practice
The real work is not about projecting energy outward.
It’s about transforming yourself.
Through consistent practice, something deeper begins to happen:
The body becomes more alive, more stable, more resilient
The emotional system becomes clearer, less reactive
The mind becomes quieter, more precise
In Nei Gong, we talk about the development of the three dantians:
The lower dantian (physical vitality)
The middle dantian (emotional balance)
The upper dantian (mental clarity)
When these three aspects start to align, life changes.
Not in a dramatic, mystical way—but in a very real, grounded way.
Not Everyone Will Express Fa Qi
Another important point that is often misunderstood:
Not everyone will develop the ability to express Fa Qi externally.
And that’s completely fine.
Everyone can cultivate energy.Everyone can improve their system to a high level.
But external expression depends on many factors—some of them beyond just practice.
This is why focusing only on Fa Qi can be misleading.
The Risk of Chasing Performance
If you make Fa Qi your goal, the practice becomes a performance.
Something to achieve. Something to show.
And in doing so, you miss the essence of the work.
Because the real transformation:
Cannot always be seen
Cannot always be demonstrated
Cannot be reduced to a moment
It happens slowly, silently, and deeply.
What Really Matters
Over time, the priorities change.
You start to value:
Feeling stable in your body
Having clarity in your mind
Being less affected by emotional fluctuations
Living with more presence and less inner conflict
These are not things you can show in a video.
But they are the real results of the practice.
A Different Perspective
This is one of the reasons why I wrote my book, Story of a Practitioner – Nei Gong Beyond the Limits.
I wanted to share a different perspective—one that goes beyond demonstrations and focuses on the inner transformation that this path offers.
Because there is much more here than what we can see on the surface.
Final Thoughts
Experiencing Fa Qi is valuable.
It can confirm that something real is happening. It can motivate you to continue.
But it should only be the beginning.
The real invitation is to go deeper:
To take responsibility for your own development
To practice consistently
To allow the process to transform you over time
Because what this path can give you is far greater than any external demonstration.
And once you start to experience that, everything else naturally becomes secondary.
