The popularity of Qi Gong and Nei Gong has grown enormously in recent years. More people than ever are discovering these ancient arts, looking for better health, greater vitality, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of themselves.

Unfortunately, as interest has increased, so has misinformation.

Today, social media is filled with videos promising rapid progress, extraordinary abilities, and even Fa Qi (Qi emission) after only a few months of practice. While these claims may attract attention, they also create unrealistic expectations and distort the true purpose of Internal Alchemy.

This article is not intended to criticize any individual, school, or lineage. Instead, it is an invitation to reflect on what authentic Nei Gong really is and why genuine cultivation requires patience, consistency, and integrity.

The Problem With Quick Results

We live in a culture that values speed.

Everything is expected to happen immediately—whether it's learning a new skill, improving health, or achieving spiritual growth.

It is therefore understandable that many people are attracted to promises of rapid energetic development.

The idea of learning Fa Qi within a few months or unlocking hidden abilities through expensive seminars is certainly appealing.

However, the question every practitioner should ask is simple:

Can genuine transformation really happen that quickly?

In my experience, authentic Nei Gong is built exactly the opposite way.

Like building a strong house, the foundation comes first.

Without a solid foundation, anything built on top eventually becomes unstable.

Nei Gong Is About Transformation, Not Performance

One of the greatest misunderstandings surrounding Qi Gong today is the belief that impressive demonstrations represent the highest level of achievement.

They do not.

Demonstrations such as Fa Qi can certainly be interesting, but they are not the true purpose of the practice.

Real Internal Alchemy (Neidan) is a process of transforming the entire human being.

It changes how we experience our body.

It changes our relationship with emotions.

It changes the way we think.

It changes how we perceive ourselves and the world around us.

These changes rarely happen dramatically.

Instead, they emerge quietly through years of sincere daily practice.

The Silent Nature of Internal Alchemy

One reason authentic Nei Gong is often overlooked is because its greatest results are invisible.

Social media rewards spectacular performances.

It does not reward patience.

It does not reward meditation.

It does not reward years of quiet, disciplined cultivation.

Yet these are precisely the qualities that create lasting transformation.

True Internal Alchemy is not something that happens during a single seminar or weekend workshop.

It develops every day through consistent training.

Little by little, the practitioner becomes calmer, clearer, healthier, and more aware.

This silent transformation is far more valuable than any temporary display of extraordinary ability.

Why Chasing Fa Qi Can Become a Distraction

Many newcomers become interested in Qi Gong after seeing demonstrations of Fa Qi.

There is nothing wrong with curiosity.

The problem begins when people believe these demonstrations are the ultimate goal.

According to the perspective shared in this video, Fa Qi is not even the most important expression of cultivated energy. Focusing exclusively on it risks overlooking the deeper work of refining the body, mind, and awareness through daily practice.

When practice becomes centred on performance, the original purpose of Nei Gong can easily be forgotten.

Building a Strong Foundation

Every authentic path of cultivation begins with fundamentals.

Daily practice.

Consistency.

Patience.

Observation.

Self-responsibility.

These qualities may not generate viral videos, but they create genuine progress.

The body gradually changes.

Breathing changes.

Perception changes.

Emotional stability develops.

Awareness deepens.

These transformations cannot be borrowed from someone else.

They must be cultivated personally.

Choosing a Teacher With Discernment

One of the most important decisions any practitioner will make is choosing who to learn from.

Rather than asking:

"What extraordinary abilities can this teacher demonstrate?"

It may be more useful to ask:

  • Do they encourage daily practice?

  • Do they speak honestly about the time required?

  • Do they value integrity over popularity?

  • Do they encourage independence rather than dependence?

  • Does their behaviour reflect the principles they teach?

Character often reveals far more than demonstrations.

An authentic teacher helps students become free—not dependent.

The Real Purpose of Qi Gong

The greatest gift of Qi Gong is not extraordinary power.

It is self-knowledge.

As practice deepens, we begin to understand ourselves more clearly.

We become responsible for our own development.

Instead of constantly searching for external solutions, we gradually discover the resources already present within us.

This is why authentic Nei Gong has always been considered a path of human development rather than entertainment.

Its purpose is not to impress others.

Its purpose is transformation.

Final Thoughts

The increasing popularity of Qi Gong and Nei Gong is a positive development.

More people are discovering practices that can genuinely improve their lives.

At the same time, popularity inevitably attracts commercialisation and unrealistic promises.

For this reason, discernment has never been more important.

If you choose to walk the path of Internal Alchemy, be patient.

Look beyond spectacular demonstrations.

Value integrity over marketing.

Trust consistent practice over shortcuts.

The deepest transformations are often the quietest ones.

And in the end, the true measure of your practice will not be what you can demonstrate to others—but who you become through the journey.
