A Special Moment in the Journey
Recently, one of my students and instructors from Greece, Thanasis, experienced his first Fa Qi emission with the guidance of my teacher, Shifu Costantino Valente.
For many practitioners, this kind of moment feels like the destination — the ability to emit energy outwardly, to see the practice taking form. But as Thanasis shared, this is not an end point. It is simply one step along a much deeper and endless path.
More Than Energy Emission
Fa Qi is fascinating. I know it draws a lot of attention, and sometimes people approach Nei Gong with the idea that this is the ultimate goal. But Thanasis expressed it very clearly:
“The most important gift Nei Gong gave me is the balance of the three energy centers, the balance within myself, and the balance in my whole life.”
This is the real meaning of practice. Nei Gong is not about chasing phenomena. It is about becoming more centered, balanced, and whole — refining ourselves so that transformation can happen naturally.
The Role of Teacher and Tradition
When I asked him about the importance of the teacher, Thanasis said something that touched me deeply:
“An art without tradition is nothing.”
The teacher is not only someone who passes on techniques. A true teacher transmits the spirit of the path, a way of being, and often the smallest gestures or pieces of advice are what truly shift our practice.
This respect for tradition and for those who walked before us is not about hierarchy or blind following. It is about recognizing that transformation is alive when it is passed heart to heart.
The Importance of Attitude
Another point that came up in our conversation is attitude. Can someone who starts Nei Gong only to achieve Fa Qi, with a self-centered mindset, truly touch the essence of this art?
Both of us agree — no. Without sincerity and the intention to become a better person, practice remains shallow. Fa Qi might come, but it will lack depth. The final purpose of Nei Gong is transformation, not display. Power without refinement is empty.
An Endless Path
Nei Gong is like a diamond with many facets. Fa Qi is one of them, but there is always more to discover: the refinement of energy, the balance of mind, the cultivation of the body, and the opening to subtler dimensions of life.
This is why the path never ends. Each step reveals more, and each practice becomes a way to return again and again to balance, clarity, and transformation.
