The Difference Between Nei Qi Gong & Qi Gong



One of the questions I get asked often is what is the difference between Nei Qi Gong and Qi Gong.


When we talk about Qi Gong we are referring to all those breathing, static, or dynamic exercises that aim to work with vital energy: the invisible layer of reality, called Qi by the Chinese people, that flows in the meridians and regulates our health.


Like an underground system of pipes, Qi regulates our human functions and it’s the foundation that also delivers the energy and the resources for the body to work correctly.

Qi Gong improves our overall health, physically, emotionally, and mentally speaking.


In the Nei Qi Gong system the goal is a bit more extreme, so to speak.


Good health, which in Nei Qi Gong is the foundation developed with the first practices, is what is needed to do advanced work which consists in condensing and gathering more and more Qi or vital energy.


In the Nei Qi Gong system, you find a very structured program created by my teacher Shifu Costantino Valente and based on the teachings of two Chinese advanced Masters: Shifu Lou and Shifu Zhou.


The program is divided into six basic practices and six advanced ones. With the basics, as I said earlier, we develop our strong foundation to, later on, do the advanced work that if done without a solid base, could overload the human system and cause harm.


In Nei Qi Gong we move safely creating a learning curve that gives the body the time to adapt and prepare for the advanced work.


The program is supported by experienced instructors or teachers like me. I personally create a connection with my students which continues after class. I offer ongoing support and presence in a very mature way.


To summon up: the goal of Nei Qi Gong is to accumulate more energy than we need for ourselves to then use that excess for martial arts, spiritual growth, and healing purposes.
