Throwing Everything Away: The End of the Spiritual Seeker

Spirituality often promises clarity, freedom, and truth. But if you’ve walked the path long enough, you may have discovered the opposite: confusion, endless detours, cryptic teachings, and identities that can feel more limiting than liberating.

I know this well. I’ve spent years in the “spiritual world,” and to some extent I’m still part of it. But over time, I began to notice something unsettling: many so-called spiritual people — including myself at different stages — live within a stereotype. We eat a certain way, we speak a certain way, we hold opinions about what is right and wrong, and we see the world through a fixed lens. This identity, though dressed in “spirituality,” can be as heavy and rigid as any other mask.

The Courage to Throw Everything Away

At some point, I realized the only way forward was to throw everything away. Not just beliefs, but also traditions, religions, and systems that I had carried like sacred luggage. Even those that had once helped me became chains over time.

It’s not an easy choice. Letting go of what defines you — especially if you’ve invested ten, twenty, or thirty years into practices, groups, and identities — can feel like death. The death of the seeker. The collapse of the spiritual identity.

But when you dare to let go, something remarkable happens: life itself begins to reveal its simplicity. You are no longer trying to be someone. You are simply here, as you are.

Neutral Tools and True Practice

In my journey, after books, psychedelics, Buddhist practices, and mystical experiments, I eventually encountered Nei Gong. What I loved about it was its neutrality. It wasn’t tied to belief or ideology. It was practical, grounded, and transformative through direct experience.

Through Nei Gong, I discovered that genuine transformation doesn’t come from belief systems, but from practice. From the simple act of putting things into motion, like moving the body when you feel depressed instead of endlessly analyzing the past.

This is what I try to pass on to my students. Not as a master, not as a guru, but as someone sharing what has worked for me. The only condition is that you practice — because no amount of reading, talking, or theorizing will ever replace experience.

Beyond the Weight of Conditioning

Most of us live trapped by conditioning — our upbringing, past wounds, what people think of us, our self-image. These are like backpacks we carry, full of excuses and roles we cling to. But life becomes limited when we hold on to them.

To let go means to experiment with emptiness. Try, even for a few days, to set aside every belief, every judgment, every label of who you think you are. Don’t add — subtract. Notice what remains when you stop identifying with thoughts.

This is not easy. The mind will resist, asking: “If I let go of all this, who will I be?”The answer is: you will simply be alive. Present. Free.

The Real Discovery

When you throw everything away, what emerges is not emptiness in a negative sense, but spaciousness. A silence that reveals life’s deeper current — something far greater than the personal mind. Mystics throughout history have spoken of this force, but it cannot be found in words or systems. It can only be discovered when the container of beliefs and concepts is emptied.

That is the essence of the path: not adding more, but subtracting, simplifying, and surrendering.

Final Thoughts

If you are drawn to energy practice, meditation, or spiritual exploration, I encourage you to try this experiment: for a time, throw everything away. Empty your container. Practice silence. Let life itself reveal what is beyond thought and belief. It may feel like the end of the seeker — but it is also the beginning of true freedom.

📖 If you’d like to go deeper into these reflections, my new book “Story of a Nei Gong Practitioner” is now available in English, Italian, and Spanish, as well as audiobook format.

It’s written for anyone walking the path of energy practice and inner discovery. You can find the book and audiobook on Amazon, Audible, Apple Books, and also on my website: https://www.neiqigongjiaoshiandrea.com/book
